Today, being an expert AI Engineer means confidently walking into any room where a discussion about what to build with agents and why is taking place, and feeling like you've earned a seat at the table.
Developing the deep expertise at the edge of agentic AI to achieve this is easy in theory, yet quite difficult in practice.
You must root yourself in both core conceptual patterns and practical code execution, both of which are evolving in real time.
Over 10 weeks, our certification program will get you into a weekly routine of building 🏗️, shipping 🚢, and sharing 🚀 with best-practice tools. Through accountability, repetition, and community, you will develop agentic AI expertise and achieve your personal AI career goals.
Just ask our Certified AI Engineer Graduates.
This course is designed for production backend engineers.
If you are not a direct referral to the program, this course might not be a great fit for you yet.
We suggest that you:
Complete The AI Engineer Challenge, quickly (1-3 hours)
Take this course first, as other students have done, then decide that you would like to go deeper into code
The skills you need to succeed as an AI Engineer in production environments.
Build agents, including those that leverage RAG and/or agentic search
Understand how to harness agents, leverage agent memory, and write agent skills
Learn multi-agent design patterns and best practices for increasing complexity
Understand the role of synthetic data generation in evaluation
Learn to build systematic evaluations to guide application improvements in retrieval and generation
Understand the state-of-the-art in agent evaluation via simulation
Complete the AI engineer challenge by building your first end-to-end LLM application
Complete the certification challenge by building an end-to-end agent for your project
Present your capstone project to a live, public audience
Understand the roles of prompt engineering, RAG, agents, and fine-tuning when prototyping
Learn the origins of context engineering and how it continues to evolve today
Build a professional set of tools and frameworks that will add value to any AI team
Learn to fine-tune LLMs and how to choose the right OSS models for your agents
Understand the role of Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards in LLMs and agentic systems
Learn to install guardrails and implement caching as early optimizations
Understand when to use and build MCP servers, and when to use A2A or other emerging protocols
Learn to use OpenClaw and determine whether it's ready for production
Backend software engineers and developers who want to build, deploy, operate, and improve agents in production environments.
The very best ML engineers or frontend developers who are pseudo-backend developers and understand what they must learn to stay relevant
Only the most ridiculous technical product managers; who somehow believe that getting deep into practical code execution will help them
This will be a place where you will hang out for many, many hours over the next 10 weeks.
If you don't have a clear goal that aligns with completing your AIE Certification, you will not. Lifetime certification rate = 51.2%.

60 lessons • 20 projects
Live sessions
4 hrs / week
We hold class every Tuesday and Thursday at 7-9 PM ET! It's important to show up live to these sessions, as you'll always get your questions answered and get 30-60 minutes of live breakout room time to do your homework!
Projects
5-15 hrs / week
Weekly projects can be time-consuming, especially early on in the cohort, and even with the time spent live in class working on them. On average, you should budget about this much time. During Week 6, our Certification Challenge typically requires students 20-30 hours. During Weeks 9-10, Demo Day can also be quite time-consuming.
Async content and Instructor/Peer Supporter Office Hours
1-10 hrs / week
We provide reading and supplemental content for you to consume on your own time. We also staff 10 different office hours per week, so you can always find time with an expert. Based on your interest and availability to dive deeper, we recommend that you do so!
I joined AI Makerspace while looking to start my company, Publicus, and it’s also where I met my co-founder Joe. What amazed me was how inclusive the community is technical folks, researchers, and even non-developers and yet everyone still built, shipped, and shared real projects. The program completely reshaped how I use open-source tools and ship to production fast. I still rely on the teachings from [AI Makerspace] today. RAGAS and Evol-Instruct were game-changing takeaways that I now use to reduce hallucinations and build more reliable AI systems. It’s genuinely the best community for people who want to build real things in the real world

The Aithon journey started out of [The AI Engineering Bootcamp, Cohort 4]. A year later, the project idea has morphed into an AI-native GTM platform for regulated financial services. We are helping large Fintechs grow and expand their presence in enterprise financial services accounts. We combine external public and proprietary signals with customer’s first party data to spot whitespace and drive expansion across financial services enterprise accounts.

What you guys have built is insane! On a totally different plane than [other courses]. So many cool, high-energy people in one place. Plus, you guys have made it feel like a dev bootcamp some people pay $8k to $16k for!
