Maven's new Lightning Lessons beta and improved course launch checklist

Maven product updates: Streamlined instructor onboarding, Lightning Lessons beta, coursework reminders for students, and 1-click calendar subscription.

Since launching our self-serve instructor sign-up flow last year, thousands of instructors have started their course build with Maven’s onboarding flow. We’ve learned where instructors most often get stuck and given this page a facelift to reflect our latest guidance.

✅ Refreshed Launch Checklist

Our redesigned launch checklist reduces the number of steps (from 29 to 16!), shares contextual tips, highlights real examples, addresses frequently asked questions, and better connects to the product.

⚡️ Lightning Lessons Beta

Some of our most successful instructors leverage free events as a way to showcase their expertise and build their email list. We recently launched Lightning Lessons to host these directly on Maven. We’re excited by the positive early feedback from students.

Currently this is supported by manual workflows so we’re still in beta. As we improve our tooling, we’ll open this up to more instructors.

🔔 Coursework Reminder Emails

Many of you have set up a thoughtful schedule for your course but keeping students on track can be cumbersome. We've added an automated coursework reminder email to streamline your in-cohort communication.

If a student has any incomplete projects or lessons due in the following 24 hours, they will receive a bundled email reminder. These only include items where you have set specific due dates, so they help elevate what's most important and encourage accountability.

🗓️ 1-Click Calendar Subscription

If students are missing events, they can now subscribe with 1-click subscription links from Maven Student Home. This used to require several more steps but the new flow has been streamlined to integrate with Google, Apple, and Outlook calendars.
