Sam Keen
Author, Clean Architecture with Python | ex-AWS GenAI lead architect
Sam Keen spent 25+ years shipping production software at AWS, Lululemon, Nike, and startups. His last role at AWS was lead architect in a Generative AI Innovation Lab building production process support systems.
He published Clean Architecture with Python (Packt, 2025), co-founded Portland AI Engineers (1200+ members), and is in his 3rd year of publishing the Altered Craft newsletter on AI and software craftsmanship.
Sam went full-time on AI research and teaching because experienced practitioners have a responsibility to document what actually works, not just what gets clicks. He uses Claude Code as his primary development tool daily.
You'll get live feedback on your actual project setup from someone who builds this way every day, not a walkthrough of documentation you could read yourself.
Previously at AWS, Nike, Lululemon
