Today’s world is filled with conflict: physical conflict that is playing out in wars across the globe; verbal conflict that is playing out on the political stage, the workplace, the home front, and social media; and emotional conflict that is playing out within each of us, whether we are conscious of it or not. But have no fear! This course will explore why conflict happens, how it can be a useful (not hurtful) aspect of the human experience, and how skilled conflict engagement (not avoidance) is the key to strengthening relationships, achieving goals, and realizing positive results. This course will also bust two popular myths about conflict: (1) that it undermines organizational culture and (2) that the other person is the problem. We’re on the precipice of ‘conflict season’ here in the United States, with both a general election and the holidays occurring in the next few months. This two-day intensive will support you during this time (and beyond!) by preparing you with the skills and processes for engaging in a live conversation with a friend, family member, colleague, or collaborator - perhaps the conversation you've been avoiding, or the one you didn’t expect to have.
