<h3>Why I enrolled</h3>
My primary goal is to gain a complete understanding of how Maven courses work so I can build an effective version of my own coursework optimized for the platform.


 <h3>A breakthrough moment</h3>It's been insightful to better understand the Maven experience for students; it's very clever to use a Maven course to teach us how to build courses on Maven!One aha moment for me: understanding marketing and pricing differences between my usual method of engaging companies directly for workshops, and positioning/pricing things for the Maven community.The vitamin/painkiller dynamic is almost opposite.With company-direct leadership programs, we help them understand how, with something like leadership development, the "painkiller" approach can solve near-term problems without necessarily establishing foundations that foster greater leadership down the road. We very much lean into the "vitamin" as the longer-term strategy.Maven customers want painkillers. This is especially great for technical skills, where someone has figured out key functionality with AI for example, and now they have a specific pain point they need to address.While also applicable to soft skills, it's a bit more ambiguous. For example, if a manager is dealing with a conflict on the team, we could build a course on conflict resolution which they could apply. But just calling it "Conflict Resolution" seems to be a problem. The need to name it actionably, on the lines of "Resolve the Current Conflict You're Facing Right Now" either sets up a near-term "band aid" that doesn't necessarily help the person with future conflict, or it becomes a slight bit of deception— promising a painkiller but then finding a way to sneak in the vitamin.This is certainly solvable, and I think I'm figuring it out, but it does require substantial reworking of curriculum that historically is well positioned and priced for corporate clients.


<h3>What I’ll apply</h3>
It will be nice to leverage a standalone and stable student community, rather than integrating into company-specific platforms like Slack.
