At Microsoft, James spent a decade leading strategy and development of global data systems that powered critical business decisions across sales, marketing, customer support, and consulting. He now guides organizations through data and AI transformations as founder of JamesGray.AI, providing consulting, fractional leadership, and learning experiences. His Hands-on AI for Leaders course has trained hundreds of leaders and professionals worldwide.

As a course facilitator for Berkeley Haas Data Strategy and AI Strategy programs, James helps executives design actionable capstone deliverables—including data and AI roadmaps—for immediate implementation. His teaching combines deep practitioner experience with academic rigor, enabling leaders to move confidently from strategy to execution.

James earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from Union College, MBA from Berkeley Haas, and MS in Information and Data Science from UC Berkeley. He is a certified leadership and performance coach through Brown University.
