Why this topic matters

Most systems shipped as agents should have been workflows, and the difference is money, latency and how often you get paged. Knowing the five patterns by name lets you argue for the simplest thing that works, in a room where everyone else is arguing for autonomy. You will leave with all five implemented and a rule for choosing between them.
