What you'll learn

Understand why the stories you tell about your brain matter

We make meaning through story. If we tell stories that drain us, we can't make progress towards our goals

Identify which stories are getting in your way

Spot the stories you're currently telling about your brain, and whether they add to or sap your energy to get work done

Revise the stories that keep you from reaching your goals

Practice revising an unhelpful story into one that's believable, productive, and helps you leverage your strengths

Why this topic matters

The stories we tell about our brains shape what work we can do and what we can learn. If we revise the narratives we've learned about how our brains are "supposed" to work into affirming stories about how they actually work, we shift mental bandwidth from internal judgments to identifying and using strategies that work with our strengths to help us make progress towards our goals.

Becca Block, PhD

Author, neurospicy coach, former executive

Becca is a neurospicy professional with two decades of experience in teaching and leading teams; after noticing how many of her students and employees struggled to make their brain fit generic strategies for getting work done, rather than focusing on finding the strategies that worked for them, she began working directly with other neurospicy individuals and groups. She turns her knowledge of research plus her experience with managing, parenting, and being neurospicy into practical courses that help people who know or suspect their brain works differently find the right tools and strategies to let them achieve their goals.
