What you'll learn

See what your AI feature actually costs to run

That "free" AI feature? It can eat 45% of the subscription price. We'll do the math live and watch it happen.

Cut that cost with five design levers

When it fires, how long the answer, which model runs it, you already control the bill. You just weren't told.

Design with cost as a real constraint

Treat cost like any other design constraint. Bake the economics into the interaction so the feature survives review.

Why this topic matters

For 20 years software was free to run, so design learned one rule: maximize engagement. AI broke it, every use now costs money, and the interaction patterns you design are most of the bill. Yet designers are rarely in the room when AI features get cut as "too expensive." This session gives you the number, the levers, and the language to defend your work where it actually gets killed.

You'll learn from

Sarah Khan

Product designer who treats AI cost as a design problem. Ex-Copilot, Amplitude.

Sarah Khan is a product designer who has worked on Microsoft AI, Amplitude, and Fivetran, across growth, monetization, and AI products. She has an accounting background, which is why the economics of AI products, not just their interfaces, are home turf for her.

Alongside her design work, she builds and ships AI tools, and writes and teaches about the judgment that keeps designers irreplaceable as AI reshapes the field. Her focus is the layer most design conversations skip: how the decisions you make in an interface become the cost, the margin, and the business case underneath the product.

She teaches from what she's shipped, not theory, every framework in her sessions comes from tools she's actually built and problems she's actually solved.
