Stop Sounding Like Every Other Resume: for Marketing & GTM Leaders Between Roles

Lianne Stewart

Career narrative strategist, ex-Meta

Being seen more won't get you hired. Being understood correctly will.

You've hired people. You've read the stack of resumes where every summary says some version of "strategic leader who brings teams together to drive growth."

Now you're between roles, and yours says it too.

You've done the work. You rewrote the resume, reworked the LinkedIn headline, maybe ran all of it through AI with instructions to be brutal.

It still reads like everyone else with your title, because plenty of people can claim the same outcomes.

What's missing is how you do it.

Without it, interviews go flat, people say "I don't know where you fit," and your network has nothing specific to pass along to potential employers.

You market products for a living, and doing it for yourself is still the hardest brief you'll get.

In this workshop you write the one line that says how you work, a small room tests whether it sticks, and I read every line.

What you’ll learn

Learn to see your own blind spots, then build a career narrative that turns being liked into being advocated for.

  • You draft it in the session from your own words, and the room tests it before you leave. A working draft you can use the next morning.

  • We run a logo-swap on your summary: take your name and employers off and see who else it could describe. You do it live, on your own line.

  • Three sources: two questions I ask every 1:1 client, the projects that kept you up at night in a good way, and your former colleagues

  • No breakout rooms and nobody is put on the spot.

  • A varied background often means searching under the wrong title. We match your line to the roles that actually ask for how you work.

Workshop agenda

  • See Why Your Summary Sounds Like Everyone Else's

You arrive with your champion's answer to a scripted question. Then you go through three easy tasks to mark every claim that anyone with your title could make.

  • Find Your How and Draft Your Line

Work through three sources in writing: your champion's words, two questions I ask every 1:1 client, and the work that never felt like work. Then draft one sentence.

  • Test the Line, Then Name the Seat

I rework two or three volunteer lines live. The room types back the lines it remembers. You match yours to two or three job titles and leave knowing where it goes first. No breakout rooms.
