Making Better Decisions with AI

Better decisions with AI

Make better decisions with AI without outsourcing your judgment

AI can generate answers, forecasts, and recommendations in seconds. The harder problem is knowing when to trust them, what assumptions are hiding underneath, and how to make a sound decision when the evidence is incomplete and the stakes are high.

Making Better Decisions with AI is a six-week, case-based course for professionals who want to improve how they think, not simply get faster answers from AI.

Each week, you will:

  • Work through a real business decision before seeing what actually happened.

  • Challenge the evidence, assumptions, risks, and alternatives behind your first judgment.

  • Use practical tools from decision science, including probability, causal reasoning, sensitivity analysis, and value of information.

  • Use AI as a challenger and thinking partner, not as the decision-maker.

  • Apply the same framework to one important decision from your own work.

By the end of the course, you will leave with a clear, defensible decision memo and a repeatable way to make better decisions when the answer is not obvious.

What you’ll learn

Build a repeatable process for high-stakes decisions and use AI to challenge, not replace, your judgment.

  • Separate objectives, alternatives, constraints, assumptions, and uncertainties.

  • Identify who owns the decision, what matters most, and what can actually be controlled.

  • Distinguish correlation from causation and spot weak or misleading claims.

  • Challenge sources, assumptions, selection bias, and AI-generated evidence before relying on it.

  • Express uncertainty with probabilities instead of vague terms like “likely” or “unlikely.”

  • Use base rates and new evidence to update your beliefs rather than defend your first view.

  • Use scenarios, sensitivity analysis, and downside risk to test whether a decision is robust.

  • Find the tipping point, the assumption or threshold that would change your recommendation.

  • Decide whether additional research, testing, or delay is worth the time and cost.

  • Identify which unknowns are worth resolving and which are unlikely to change the decision.

  • Turn your analysis into a concise decision memo with clear reasoning, risks, and next steps.

  • Use AI to challenge your recommendation, then make and defend the final call yourself.
