A one-week live cohort to process LiDAR point clouds end-to-end inside QGIS. You build the full workflow: loading and styling, ground filtering and classification, DTM, DSM and Canopy Height Model derivation, building footprint extraction, Virtual Point Clouds for scale, COPC streaming, and interactive 3D editing... and more.
Our anchor application is an urban context on European LiDAR datasets. It transfers directly to forest modelling, infrastructure inspection, archaeology, and any national LiDAR programme
Loading and styling at scale
You open LAZ, COPC, EPT, and Virtual Point Cloud collections without crashing your machine.
You style with classification, RGB, intensity ramps, Eye-Dome Lighting, and ambient occlusion.
You use PDAL inside the Processing toolbox to filter ground,
export DTMs and DSMs, build Canopy Height Models, and derive LOD1 building footprints from classified points.
You profile cross-sections through buildings and treelines.
You re-classify misclassified points interactively in the 3D view (QGIS 3.42+) and save the corrected layer back to COPC.
