How to Actually Use Microsoft Copilot

Fay Bordbar

Teaching AI, one skill at a time

You have Copilot. Time to actually use it.

It's in your inbox, your documents, and your Teams meetings. Sitting there, paid for, ignored.

Most people I speak to have either never opened it, or tried it once and quietly gone back to the way they've always worked. Meanwhile, the people who use it well are finishing tasks faster, and doing things they couldn't do before.

That gap is only going to widen. And nobody at work is going to teach you how to close it.

That's why I built this course. Four focused, interactive one-hour sessions designed to get you genuinely comfortable using Copilot in the apps you already use every day across M365.

I've helped over 15,000 finance and audit professionals sharpen their skills in tools like Excel and Copilot. I know what cuts through the noise and what actually makes a difference in a real working week.

By the end of this course, you'll know how to make Copilot useful and reliable. Not in theory, but in the work you're actually doing on Monday morning.

You'll also have a clearer picture of where to focus next, so the learning doesn't stop here.

What you’ll learn

Use Copilot where it counts and build it into your work so you can finish your work faster.

  • Learn the GCSE framework to structure prompts that work reliably

  • Iterate and refine rather than starting over

  • Use Prompt Coach to sharpen your technique as you go

  • Summarise long email threads and draft replies in Outlook

  • Catch up on missed meetings without watching the recording

  • Set up Custom Instructions so Copilot writes more like you

  • Turn a rough brief into a structured first draft in Word

  • Build a slide deck from a prompt or an existing document

  • Analyse, clean, and explain data in plain language in Excel

  • Follow responsible principles when using AI tools

  • Understand why Copilot sometimes gets things wrong and recognise where it saves time and where it doesn't

  • Build the review habits that keep your work accurate

  • Design a simple morning routine around your calendar and inbox

  • Make Copilot part of how you start the day, not an afterthought

  • Leave with a routine you can run from Monday

  • Save your best prompts so they don't get lost in chat history

  • Organise them in a way you'll actually go back to

  • Build a resource that gets more useful the longer you use it

Who this course is for

  • You've had Copilot for months, but never touched it. You know it's there, but no-one has shown you how to make it useful.

  • You tried it, got an odd response, and quietly closed it down. You just need someone to show you what it looks like when it works.

  • Your team is using AI and you don't want to fall behind. The people around you are getting things done faster. You want to close that gap.
