<h3>Why I enrolled</h3>
<p class="p2-tall">My goals for this class are a little more ambitious than just getting my feet wet. I'd love to come away with a strong portfolio piece and a case study that I can actually talk through from start to finish. I want to be able to show the full process behind a project, how I used the toolkit, how I approached the work creatively, and how I thought through both the technical and strategic sides of it.<br></p><p class="p2-tall">Another thing I'm really hoping to learn is not just how to make something, but how to deliver it. I'm interested in understanding the project management side of things—the real steps involved in taking an idea from concept to completion. How do you plan it, manage it, keep it moving, and ultimately get it out into the world? That's a big part of what I want to get out of this class.</p>

    <h3>A breakthrough moment</h3><p class="p2-tall">I think the real shift for me happened over the last two, maybe two and a half weeks of being immersed in Claude Code and Claude more broadly. What’s struck me is this strange combination of how dumb it is and how smart it is.</p><p class="p2-tall">I think this connects to a comment that was made in class: Claude’s logic is actually quite similar to the way you might understand building files with HTML and stylesheets, or the basic principles of file and folder structures that are inherent to almost any production environment. There’s something refreshingly simple—and, in some ways, refreshingly dumb—about how Claude works.</p><p class="p2-tall">Obviously, it’s built for developers and for people who are code-sympathetic or at least somewhat code-fluent. That’s something I’ve been trying to wrap my head around as I try to really grok this thing: How do I understand how the software works while simultaneously making things with it? And, more importantly, how do I use it toward my own ends? How do I figure out the way I work, understand how Claude can support that way of working, and then fit it into the kind of workflow or organizational structure that a potential employer or company might already have?</p><p class="p2-tall">In my background, I’ve seen people try to use tools like Windsurf as a kind of common muscle that does the work for you, and, in my experience, that doesn’t work particularly well. What I’ve seen with Claude, though, is that it very quickly reveals its inability to make something truly <em>right</em>. It goes back to this idea of producing pretty generic, mediocre stuff that raises the floor but never really raises the ceiling.</p><p class="p2-tall">But that’s also its value. It lets you get to a really quick starting point. And arguably, if you already have your shit together—if you know something about design, if you understand UX, if you have some sense of what good looks like—you can become incredibly productive with it. You can potentially be a really valuable and beneficial person to an organization that needs that kind of support.</p><p class="p2-tall">The question for me now is: how does that actually translate into the real world? I’m hoping to find out soon.</p>
