Designing Context for AI Systems

Why I enrolled

Fill knowledge gaps and bridge existing skills in CD and AI. Draft context design plan for 1 project.

A breakthrough moment

The assignments were absolutely critical for me to apply what the videos described. The detail of the instructions and setup, plus having to slow down and actually think through how to do what was asked, pushed me to use my own judgment in new ways.

This course validated how much core CD skills are needed in designing for massive amounts of data and output. It also gave me hands-on experience for how to extend those core skills to work at scale. I'm also really excited that these practices allow me to embed responsible design into the architecture of AI products!

What I’ll apply

Everything! I'm putting together a "CD menu" for my org, so will be including these services in an overview map and training video. My head of design has already asked me to present a simplified version for our UX designers, to broaden their thinking.

Hands-on, I'm meeting with my Product partner on Responsible AI, which oversees all AI products in my company. I'll show the work I did, ask how he's organizing technical inventory, and then we'll brainstorm how CD can help add oversight / confidence / UX sensibility to that work.

Also planning to audit the setup for our largest AI product to identify opportunities. Possibly combine that with the UXD upskilling ask by defining a project with tasks that a senior/lead UXD can perform.

Oh and I thiiink that Design Systems and CD will have time in late Nov / Dec to push on tooling. So thinking about how context architecture can improve our in-house setup for UX quality reviews.
