You’re good with words and love using language to solve problems, but breaking into UX writing still feels impossible, or at least far-fetched. Maybe you’ve sent out resumes with no response, tried a UX design course that didn’t translate into a job, or are stuck at the “dream” stage. I’ve been there too.

I started as a journalist and over the years worked across fundraising, marketing, and e-commerce before I went after my first tech role. At first, every application was a dead end. Then I patched together different resources, learned what I needed to upskill, and reframed my transferable skills into a story that got my foot in the door and resonated with hiring managers. That shift got me a contract at Etsy, Inc. Three months later, I was promoted to Senior UX Writer, a role I held for over 2.5 years.

Today, I’m the founding Senior UX Writer on the digital advisor experience team at a Fortune 500 financial services company, where I’m building UX content foundations from the ground up and doing other exciting things like serving on hiring panels.

Looking back at my successes, I knew I had created a repeatable process for breaking into UX writing I had to share! Everything changes when you know the process, just ask my students.

It worked for a student in my very first cohort. This student came in as a technical writer, telling herself after some tough rejections that her current role was “close enough” to what she wanted. By the end of the course, armed with renewed confidence, a focused portfolio, and a clear interview framework, she landed her first UX role for a major player in the e-commerce space.

In six weeks, you’ll leave with:

• A polished portfolio piece built from real microcopy practice

• A resume and LinkedIn that highlight your strengths and stand out to hiring managers

• A clear interview and follow-up framework you can use again and again

• Direct video feedback on your resume and/or portfolio from me

• The tools, terminology, and confidence to step into a UX writing role

• A 90-day career plan to keep your momentum long after the course

What makes this course different is the intentionally small and focused cohort

I limit enrollment to a dedicated group of students so you get direct feedback and encouragement from me every step of the way. This is a safe space for growth alongside peers just as motivated as you are to make this career-changing pivot. Meet with me and other members of your cohort in my live Saturday office hours for additional support on top of your self-paced course.

And because I’ve been on both sides of the hiring table, I know exactly what gets overlooked and what makes candidates stand out, giving you the exact framework you need to succeed when your new skills get you interviews.

Break through the noise with a proven plan of action and personal feedback and support from a professional who has successfully helped themselves and others make the pivot! All while getting sustainable accountability in a safe space.

Who is this course for

01

Professionals from adjacent fields (e.g. education, design, marketing, journalism, technical writing, or public relations).

02

Career pivoters seeking a UX writing role who are ready to stand out with all they need to apply confidently in six weeks.

03

Creatives curious about UX writing who want to hear from someone who has done it and try for themselves to see if it’s a fit.

Prerequisites

  • Calling all creatives, even if it's not your job title

You don’t need tech experience or a specific degree (other than a Bachelor of Arts). Just strong writing skills and commitment to learning.

  • Commit to mastering the foundational skills beyond 6 weeks

While I link to resources, you need to learn Figma (and/or Adobe XD). I also highly recommend the Google UX Design Professional Certificate.

What you’ll get out of this course

Spend just 6 weeks figuring it out together VS. 6+ months alone

Save the time I spent DIYing and grab the winning strategy I used to highlight my transferable skills, polish my portfolio, and create my resume. Packed with how-to videos and ready-to-replicate templates, including a PDF of my current resume!

Practice real microcopy and get portfolio-ready pieces that stand out!

Work directly in Figma and walk away with a perspective on key issues like voice and tone, accessibility, and tying your work back to business goals. Master the terminology, tools, and cross-functional partner knowledge you need on the job.

Prepare with an interview framework and online presence that sets you up for success

Get actionable insights into a LinkedIn and portfolio that is sure to stop their scroll. Stand out to recruiters, with or without a website! Once in the room, nail your next interview with a framework that positions you as the solution to their problems.

Join an intentionally smaller cohort for 1:1 instructor time you can't find in bootcamps

Take inspired action alongside motivated people like you with direct support and feedback from me! Form connections in #channels and my office hours every Saturday. Complete this self-paced course with the class or as it fits yours schedule.

Nail your mindset for your luckiest break yet, armed with networking skills that work for you

Kindly conquer your inner critic with new ways of thinking and actionable networking prompts you need to do risky things like sending that LinkedIn connect message or answering an auto-rejection (one of my students got a job by doing so!).

Megan Jensen

Hi there! I'm a Senior UX Writer who pivoted into tech after running my own digital e-commerce agency for several years.

Almost 3.5 years ago now, I got my big break at Etsy, Inc. where I led UX content strategy and support for the Buyer Experience across 12+ squads, including major projects like Etsy’s Registry relaunch and gifting experience.

Now I'm defining UX content across the digital advisor experience as a Sr. UX Writer at a Fortune 500 financial services company, their first content hire.

As a multi-passionate creative with other experience spanning the journalism, marketing, and nonprofit spaces, I’ve seen firsthand how a nontraditional path can lead to a deeply aligned career.

I created this course to help others break into UX writing with clarity, confidence, and strategy without starting over! If that’s the kind of transformation you’re ready for, I’d be honored to guide you.

Course schedule

3-4 hours per week

  • Saturdays

    9:00 AM - 9:30 AM PST

  • October 6th - November 15th

30 minutes, I stay longer upon request

A weekly sync to check in on your progress and answer any questions. It's my weekly office hours that are optional but I highly encourage, it will be a great group. Can't make it? Don't worry, this course was made for you to take at your speed and you have all materials you need.

  • Weekly projects

    2-3.5 hours per week

This time can vary but it's very self-paced, starts with a lighter mindset intro week, and lets you decide how much you want to take on as the challenges get bigger. There are perks to keeping pace, like the video resume/portfolio review which I will give to on-time submissions.
