What you'll learn

Platform teams as business accelerators

I show how platform teams reduce cognitive load and enable teams via automation, self-service and standards

From cost center to internal product

Using real org examples, I explain how to define platform goals, success metrics and feedback loops

I've got microservices... now what?

I show why microservices need a platform to succeed.

Why this topic matters

Business expects fast, reliable delivery of value, while infra is often seen as slow cost center. Understanding how platform teams work lets engineers and leaders scale delivery, reduce risk and align technology with business goals. Being able to write microservices is a great start, this talk explains why it's only a prerequisite.

Java Champion, ex-Spring Cloud & Micrometer team member

I’m Marcin Grzejszczak, Java Champion and software engineer with 15+ years of experience, including over a decade in open source. I was a long-time maintainer and contributor to Spring CloudSpring Boot, and Micrometer, shaping how observability, tracing and cloud-native systems are built at scale.

Profile

I’ve worked as a Staff / Principal Engineer at companies like Pivotal, VMware, Broadcom and now HeroDevs, and I’ve spoken at 150+ events across 16 countries. I also train and mentor engineers and teams on distributed systems, testing, platform engineering and developer experience.

I share this knowledge because I’ve seen - first-hand - how good platforms unlock teams, and how bad ones silently block business growth.

My goal is to help engineers and infra teams move from “keeping things running” to becoming trusted partners in delivering real business value.
