Why this topic matters

I dodged 4 layoffs prior to getting laid off in 2023. I figured eventually my luck might run out. I began preparing for the worst. Thankfully, my preparation paid off. Layoffs can be scary. But you can minimize that fear by getting prepared. If you've already been laid off, you can bounce back. I want to share practical steps I took that helped me weather the storm of a layoff.

I've been a designer for 12 years. I started in graphic design and transitioned to product design. I've never lost my love for visual design and owe those foundational skills to successes I've experienced in the world of UX.

I've worked for larger orgs but primarily early stage startups. After a layoff in the fall of 2023 I pivoted to designing for clients full-time.

After my layoff I teamed up with a couple guys from the UK to build Kleo, the best LinkedIn content tool.
