What you'll learn

What good strategy actually looks like

Why strategy isn't a list of priorities and what separates clear strategic direction from a document that collects dust.

How to find the tension at the heart of any strategy

Every strategy is trying to resolve something. Learn how to identify that tension and why your job is to hold both sides

How to translate a strategy pillar into action for your role

Whether you work in brand, comms, product or HR — how to take the same strategy document and make it work for you.

What separates a good tactic from busy work

The three questions every tactic needs to answer before you start and how to know if something is moving the needle.

Why this topic matters

Once brand strategy has the seat at the table, it needs to deliver. That means understanding how to read a strategy, name the real problem it's solving, and turn a high-level narrative into decisions, campaigns and measurable outcomes. Using a live case study and a hands-on workshop, you'll leave with a practical method you can apply immediately — whatever your function.

Selicia Richards-Turney

Strategy Director at Chill Create

Selicia Richards-Turney is a brand strategist and partner at Chill Create, with over 20 years in marketing and 8 years of focused brand strategy experience at some of the most recognised and innovative organisations in the world.

She began her career in broadcast media at the BBC, Disney and Warner Bros Discovery before moving into digital media at VICE, where she led campaigns across global markets. In 2019 she joined Uber — a masterclass in what happens when a product-first organisation has to buy back brand love — before moving to European travel scale-up GetYourGuide, where she refined her strategic approach for global and cross-cultural audiences.

Selicia now consults independently, working with organisations including dentsu, Netflix, Oxfam, the V&A and Grey Finance. Her work sits at the intersection of cultural intelligence, brand strategy and business growth — helping founders, marketers and leadership teams build brands that are relevant, resilient and built to last.

Her Brand Academy Masterclass, Street Wise Logic, gives practitioners the framework and the tools to do this work themselves.

Grace-Ann Marius

Founder at The Launch Gym

Grace-Ann is a launch and brand strategist and founder of The Launch Gym, with over 14 years in brand, positioning and go-to-market strategy — and a track record built entirely at the sharp end of early-stage growth.

She began her career working across VC-backed brands at various stages, becoming a three-time Founding Marketer across fintech and B2B SaaS in the UK, Europe and North America. Where most strategists come in post-product, Grace-Ann has consistently been the person in the room before the brand existed — helping companies shape who they are before they go to market.

Grace-Ann now works independently through The Launch Gym, a brand and GTM strategy agency for early-stage companies. Her clients are emerging brands, first-time founders and startups who have the idea but need the roadmap — from stealth through to Series D. Her work spans positioning, go-to-market strategy and launch execution, with a specialism in helping brands get to market with clarity and momentum rather than the biggest budget.

Her approach is rooted in a simple conviction: the best launches aren't the ones with the most money behind them. They're the ones with the clearest thinking.
