Feeling stuck?

Only 46% of U.S. workers are “thriving.”

You may be watching repeated rounds of layoffs, absorbing work previously performed by several people, managing more people than you can keep track of, or seeing automation introduced without a clear plan for how your role will change. You may suspect that your current situation is unsustainable, but feel unable to walk away from a paycheck, healthcare, or other responsibilities.

Jess Lowry has developed the Mindful Method, a framework that helps you shift your mindset, understand what you need, define what matters, create possibilities, learn through small experiments, and evolve your path.

In one focused session, we’ll apply that process to the change you’re facing so you leave with greater clarity and a practical next step.

Life Design is a method for navigating uncertainty.

You don't have to navigate change alone.

You don't have to navigate change alone.

Why Spend an Hour on Life Design?

For decades, people were told that education, experience, strong performance, loyalty, and continued professional development would create a reasonably secure career.

That agreement has broken down.

Organizations are eliminating successful teams, automating work without redesigning it, replacing permanent roles with contract labor, and using hiring systems that struggle to recognize transferable experience. Mid-career professionals are watching colleagues disappear while being told to become “AI-proof,” continually reinvent themselves, and prepare for jobs that may not exist yet.

The resulting disorientation is not a personal failure to manage change. It is a rational response to a world of work in which the rules are changing faster than people can adapt to them.

Life Design cannot make an unstable labor market stable. What it can provide is a structured way to understand what these changes mean for you, distinguish your value from the systems currently evaluating it, and begin creating options before circumstances force you to choose.

Meet Jess

Jess Lowry is a human-centered designer, researcher, educator, barre instructor, and mentor who has spent more than a decade coaching people through professional growth and change. She has worked as a consultant across multiple industries since 2006, helping individuals and organizations understand complex systems, navigate uncertainty, and design more intentional ways forward.

Jess developed the Life Design Workbook after leading weeklong retreats in Austin and Dripping Springs beginning in 2017. Her approach combines practical design methods with mindfulness and humanist principles, helping people step back from work pressures, examine what is changing, and explore possibilities grounded in their actual lives—not an idealized version of the job market.

She studied humanism at the University of Toronto and Design Thinking for Continuous Organizational Renewal at Penn State. She has taught UX Design at General Assembly and written peer-reviewed research about how organizational change and opaque systems affect workers.

Jess also hosts and produces Deprecated Human, an action-research podcast documenting how layoffs, automation, long-term unemployment, and changes in how work is organized are affecting people across industries and professions. Through these conversations, she brings direct knowledge of what workers are experiencing—and helps people recognize that the disruption they face is not simply a personal failure to adapt.
