The Memo: doubleAI and The Rise of Artificial Expert Intelligence (AEI)

This article is a comprehensive overview of the new startup doubleAI which is the leading company inventing Artificial Expert Intellignece.

Prof. Amnon Shashua, Prof. Shai Shalev-Shwartz, Yoav Levine and 3 other co-founders are building doubleAI which challenges how we think about AGI and what we need to solve grand social and scientific challenges.

After spending time building companies like Mobileye, AI21 Labs and OrCam, the team developed the thesis of AEI - Artificial Expert Intelligence.

I believe that what we are going to see AI evolving from our common ChatGPT use for productivity and editing a paper, into solving many deep, hard problems that require deep expertise. The usage of AI in science is not new as we know Google Deepmind started with AlphaFold and Isomorphic Labs change drug discovery with AI.

doubleAI's thesis focuses on problems that have these three parameters:

1) Problems that require deep expertise, sometimes years of practical and research experience.

2) Problems where the talent to solve them is rare, and very limited. You might find 100 people in the world who can work on them.

3) Problems that live in "zero-error" environments, and when the level of correctness should be close to 100%.

The team have chosen to showcase their technology through WrapSpeed, which they published on March 2, 2026. The new model rewrote every performance kernel in NVIDIA’s cuGraph library, WrapSpeed beat every single one of them, on every tested GPU architecture, by an average of 3.6×.

I deep dived into doubleAI and their AEI thesis, and I chose the format of an Investment Memo in order to do so. Over the years, I found that the best way for me to learn about new technologies, entrepreneurship and now AI is through speaking with founders, and through innovative companies. I overview the founding team, market opportunity with 8 similar potential problems that could be next for doubleAI, the technology and more.

I call this series of articles "The Memo", where I choose pioneering companies and outlier entrepreneurs and write a memo-like article about them. It's not a strict investment memo, it's based only on public data, and I do not give here investment advice (or any knowledge of an open investment round)

My goal here is to learn about the companies and their technology, and also empower others to learn about new exciting technologies, companies and entrepreneurs.

I want to create a debate in the form of a "Public Investment Committee", where anyone can read the memo, challenge, add thoughts, and discuss a new technology as if you were part of my public investment committee.
