Cohort-based Course
Learn what fuels Imposter Syndrome and how to re-programme neural pathways for a more positive and realistic view of self.
Course overview
Imposter Syndrome is a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their accomplishments and has a persistent internalised fear of being exposed as a ‘fraud’. For many, the stress and anxieties of the pandemic and the pressure of remote working have compounded, leaving a feeling of daily exhaustion, which can exacerbate feelings of inadequacy in the workplace. In Clearing Imposter Syndrome, we learn what fuels Imposter Syndrome and how to reprogramme neural pathways for a more positive and realistic view of self. Setting us free to pursue the goals that matter to us.
By completing this course, participants will:
- Learn what Imposter Syndrome is, how it manifests and why it is so common
- Understand the cost to people, performance and productivity
- Develop the ability to spot the signs in self and others
- Develop the building blocks to let go of limiting beliefs and choose a different path
- Learn tools and techniques to dismantle internal blocks and achieve our goals

Identify and address deceptive brain messages
The brain sends us false messages all the time, often long-held habitual beliefs. These messages can be destructive and prevent us from achieving our goals. You will learn how to identify which of the brain’s messages are deceptive and choose to take action to shed those beliefs.
Stop destructive self-talk and refocus attention on the positives
Focusing on negative thoughts increases their power. Instead, you will learn how to stop destructive self-talk, and consciously choose to think a different, more productive thought. In doing so, you will strengthen the neural pathways for more positive thinking in the future.
Spot when the brain steps in to keep us safe from a perceived threat
Sometimes a hidden benefit may prevent us from achieving our primary goal. It is the brain’s emergency solution to keep us safe from threat. You will learn to recognise when this is taking place and to weigh up whether the hidden benefit is more important than the primary goal.
Identify which beliefs no longer serve you and choose to let them go
It’s not possible to gloss over a belief, and focusing hard on the reason a belief exists gives it extra power. You will learn techniques to let go of some of the beliefs that no longer serve us and choose what to believe instead, based on current - not past - realities.

Imposter Syndrome, for many years was considered to be something experienced by women advancing into senior roles and doubting their right to be there. The reality is that it can affect anyone regardless of gender or level of success.
In my 25+ years of working in communication and engagement, and the latter 10 years supporting Brain-Friendly Change among 100s of leaders across different industries, one thing is clear; Imposter Syndrome is a common experience among high-achieving individuals. Those that succeed regardless, recognise that Imposter Syndrome is not permanent and take practical steps to clearing out limiting beliefs that threaten to prevent us reaching our goals.
This course brings the latest knowledge from the behavioural sciences to you. More importantly, you will learn the techniques and steps to successfully apply the learning day-to-day. You will develop your own Imposter Syndrome toolkit for practical application to reduce its impact, improve our sense of belonging and make us more able to pursue the goals that really matter to us.

Imposter Syndrome, for many is a ‘dirty secret’. It’s easy to believe that everyone around us is filled with confidence and has got it all under control. The reality is that that even the most professional, most career-driven, most-senior amongst us have regularly encountered feelings of being an imposter throughout their lives.
During my career of supporting individual and business performance in advertising, business and leadership development, one thing is clear; Imposter Syndrome is incredibly common and something that most of us will encounter at some point in our careers. The important thing is to recognise when it is present and to build skills to overcome Imposter Syndrome when it is preventing us from doing what we really want to do.
