Course overview

Most meetings suck, they accomplish nothing and waste time.

That’s why facilitation skills are the quickest way to grow your career.

Studies show that the average worker spends nearly 12 hours per week preparing and attending meetings. This equates to more than $20,000 per employee per year in ineffective meetings. Leaving a big opportunity for those who can optimize that time spent in meetings.

Having worked with hundreds of executives, it’s obvious that the best ones get ahead because they make everyone around them more effective. They’ve used facilitation to grow their career, even if they don’t call it that. Maximizing the impact of that time is the key to getting recognized.

Why aren’t meetings more effective if we’re in them so much?

Although people may know the basics, it's hard to apply them.

The skill of facilitation shouldn't be reserved for those few brave people willing to stand at the front of the room. Instead, it should be a fundamental skill taught to all new leaders. But it's not just about presentations.

Facilitation is about understanding the purpose, articulating it clearly and creating a structure to get the most out of everyone in the room. Through this course we'll share a simple framework that's worked for the hundreds of leaders we've worked with.

Why should we be the ones to help you lead better meetings?

Said bluntly, this is what we do.

Together, we led the team at Shopify that coached hundreds of leaders through a simple framework for leading meetings that get results. This framework works for 1:1 meetings, weekly team meetings and even leadership offsites. Leaders have used it to improve their teams performance, develop team strategy and save hours every single week.

Over time, these leaders have gone on to become the go-to person for new, exciting and big projects. They use their facilitation skills to get new opportunities and grow their careers. And it's worked for us, since working at Shopify we've facilitated for Fortune 100 retailers, the Military and Olympic Gold Medal coaches.

This course will teach you a simple framework and support you in building the skills you need to lead meetings that get results. But it's not just about the meetings, it'll show you how to make those around you better, grow your career and work on interesting problems.
