Course overview
How amazing would your job be if:
~ you learn something new every day?
~ your peers seek you out for advice?
~ you convince your supervisor to approve your proposal?
~ you achieve something remarkable?
Sharpening your skill as a writer will make you more effective and, yes, happier at work.
The belief at the heart of this course is that two processes -- earning trust and business writing -- are related. By writing effectively, you'll think more clearly, earn trust with colleagues and leaders, and accomplish more.
The good news is that you don't need to be George Washington ("I cannot tell a lie.") to be trustworthy or Toni Morrison to be a persuasive writer. Anyone can learn the mindset, techniques, and tips to earn trust, think deeply, and write effectively.
I learned these skills writing many - many - memos for executives at Amazon, the company famous for its 6-page narratives and PR/FAQs. I've taught these skills to over 100 colleagues at Unity and MasterClass. After my class, colleagues say good-bye to PowerPoint and hello to getting things done.
What to Expect
The syllabus is covered over three interactive lectures. Through group simulations, mini-projects, and discussions you will learn and apply simple frameworks, techniques and tips that will improve your relationships and effectiveness at work. Each student is offered an optional 30-minute individual workshop to review a student's real-life work memo or proposal.
