Topics covered

Songwriting

Exploring creative processes around writing a song - from improvisation to building song structure with melodies + using these tools to finish a demo by the end of the course.

Storytelling and Lyrics

Learning to craft and give yourself the permission to tell your story. Turning your life experience into lyrics by experimenting with process and vulnerability.

Vocal Style and Tone

What is style?

ASTU and Sandu Ndu share about their vocal styles and how tone combined with intonation can serve as a creative expansion point to develop dynamic expression. Experiments in building your own style.

Collaboration

Developing language and workflows around working with producers and engineers.

Emerging artist and multi-talented singer, songwriter, and film director. Composed and written songs for Disney, Pixar and other artists. Voice actor for 3 time Emmy award winning animated Netflix series “Go! Go! Cory Carson.” Leader and mentor in the Bay Area art community and has collaborated with emerging artists across the country. Her dedication to her craft and mission to lift up her peers has earned respect among other artists. She lives and breathes the artist’s journey. She’s DIY + community builder.

Composer, singer, music director and music producer for projects as wide ranging as film, art installations, and dance performances. Vocal mentor that works with artists who want to become more confident in their voices and explore songwriting. Has built her music base in Oakland while producing, performing and touring with her band Bells Atlas. 

Her most recent projects consider how misrepresentation and exclusion from social storytelling contributes to the erasure of culture, the myth of monsters and an isolation and disconnection amongst individuals.
