Build a Blueprint and Take Action To Transform Your Career

Over the last three years, we have helped more than 1,000 women recognize and replace habits that were holding them back in their careers in our "Take Your Career to the Next Level" series.

We help get you started with small, clear, actionable ideas that are simple to incorporate into your everyday work. We know from research and our own experience that tiny changes in your habits can make all the difference in your career. We purposely designed the course so that you WON’T feel like we're asking you to overhaul your entire life or personality to get the career you want!

We also recognize the shift towards AI as a powerful tool, so we’ve included proposals on how to help AI help you, acting as your consultant, advisor, and providing feedback when you want to pull AI in.

In the first two days, we'll dive into four elements that are essential for your career: the goals you set, the connections you build, the way you show up, and the work you do. We'll walk you through exercises to help you map out a blueprint for where you need to take action to transform your career.

A blueprint for your career allows you to create a detailed design. It includes the foundational elements and strategies needed to build your successful career, such as skill development, authentic networking, branding or reputation, and a comprehensive framework to propel your career growth. Each element is broken down into discrete sections, so while you’re focusing on the bigger picture of your career, you’ll have action items you can put to work right away.

Over the following three weeks, you'll begin executing on your career blueprint and build on the actions you’ve already started. Sound daunting? We’ve got you covered because we’ve already been through this ourselves and then we taught a series on it!

We've taken what we've learned from running that series and incorporated it into this course to make it even more actionable and impactful, along with suggestions on how to incorporate AI into the career advancement skills you’re learning. Combined, this makes it a two-fer: you’re building your AI literacy as you take your career to the next level.

Our goals are to help you:

✅ Become more intentional about how you approach your career; knowing what you want increases your ability to get it

✅ Create a highly actionable plan with the help of practical frameworks

✅ Establish accountability that fits you as you practice and change your habits

✅ Connect with others who are going through the same challenges

✅ Learn how to leverage AI as a career coach

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This is a highly-interactive course with in-depth discussion, Q&A, examples, exercises, and tactics you can apply immediately. There are 7+ hours of live instruction on Zoom. We will focus on both the "what" you need to help reach your goals, and tactical pieces around the "how" to transform your career.

After the first two days, you will have the framework to establish your career blueprint and specific actions to take. For the three weeks that follow, you'll pick an area to focus on, and, with the support of your cohort and online materials, you'll start taking action. Weekly, you'll get accountability exercises to put the concepts into practice, have the opportunity to ask questions as you go, and access to a live Q&A discussion with Jen and Naomi.

Not being in the right role was sapping my confidence but I was afraid to make a move… After attending one of your sessions I knew I had to take a chance… I was scared, especially as I liked my current manager (it was a risk) but I knew that I had to tend to my needs first and think of my career, not just my job. I did it and I love my new role!

I had a situation where I was trying to negotiate with another team and not getting anywhere. I took the advice to leverage my relationships and ask for help from someone in the group who could help bridge the gap between our points of view. They were able to help us make traction and get through the sticking point and move forward.

I have learned to say THANK YOU when I receive praise. I am often tempted to then share the Thank you with everyone else. Just taking a pause is a habit that I am continuing to develop and lean to take my share of credit for what has been achieved.

I have found it is important for me to focus on skills as a learning process rather than something I am good or bad at, so I rephrase my self-depreciating thoughts to focus on learning and development. I shifted from thinking 'I'm bad at ...' to 'I am learning ...' or 'I should have ...' to 'Next time I will..."

I reevaluated how I was spending my time to focus more on the top few things that were actually important for ME to do rather than just needing to be done by someone. In order to put this into practice, I had to admit to others how uncomfortable it was for me to say no to their request, but that I needed to focus on other priorities for my role.

Jen Weigel

Senior Director of Program Management | Bringing order to chaos

I'm a people leader that brings organization to chaos. I've spent 15+ years gaining experience at companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Kaiser Permanente, and Thomson Reuters, as well as in government and academia. I know how to tackle tough problems and lead teams to success. I have a knack for strategic planning and have led the turnaround of a $XXM product line, scaled global programs, and implemented automated solutions to drive efficiency.

I spent 10 years working in restaurants and waiting tables through high school, college and law school. I started my corporate career as an accountant, became a lawyer and adjunct law professor, and later pivoted into technology. Previous roles and experience have spanned across customer experience, legal and risk, accounting and finance, program management, product management and operations, data analytics, process improvement, and digital marketing and content. I've learned a lot of lessons the hard way as I've pivoted roles and jumped companies.

As someone who loves to learn and try new things, I share my passion for building new skills and gaining knowledge with others through teaching and development. In my current role at Microsoft, I'm focused on helping my program management teams adopt and leverage AI as we transform the way our business handles strategy, planning, and delivery.

For me, this course is the best of all worlds - I get to combine my passion for ongoing learning with my expertise in business transformation and leadership to help you become more intentional in your career!

Naomi Margolis

Naomi Margolis

Principal Engineering Manager | Energizing people and delivering results

After starting in tech at Amazon, I moved around jobs, and the country, as a SQL engineer, before settling into a longer work stint at Microsoft. Within Microsoft, I’ve tried out roles ranging from operations, project management, back to engineering, and most recently as an engineering manager. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been working on generative AI features, so I also have insight into succeeding in the incredibly fast-moving world of working on building AI features.

All of that to say: I’ve got experience across companies, teams, and roles, and have firsthand knowledge of what works (and doesn’t work!) when it comes to growing a career. I’ve also got lots of experience trying to fit in to the status quo vs confidently showing up as my authentic self, and the difference leaning into my strengths has made.
