Course overview
In this hands-on course, you will stop spinning wheels, and take action by building confidence when connecting with the right people to make a meaningful career change, build your network, create mutual value, and make a bigger impact. Get practical resume and cover letter strategies that you can use now, and in the future, as you pursue the right opportunities for your career.

Who will you know - truly know - by the end of this course? Only time will tell and you're in the driver's seat! With The Knock Method, an easy-to-follow methodology, you'll identify the right career connections to invest your time in so that it's worth everyone's time.
Learn the building blocks of an effective outreach message, resume, and cover letter for mutual value
Why would someone respond to your email or job application when they don't know you? Write an effective outreach or connection email or job application to create and surface mutual value to build partnerships that last, and open the door to new career opportunities.
Get hands-on with research to avoid ever having to "cold call", and feel confident that your personal branding will land in your job search.

Rebecca Leder is the bestselling author of KNOCK: How to Open Doors and Build Career Relationships that Matter. She is an instructional designer, creating and facilitating engaging and interactive career development learning experiences to help workplaces build cultures of connection and inclusion, and students and professionals build careers of meaning.
She completed the Positive Leader program at University of Michigan Ross School of Business and is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Learning Design & Technology from the Harvard Extension School. Prior to becoming a career educator, Rebecca was a marketing leader at Salesforce for over six years, where she brought one hundred team members from two internal teams together through her unique collaboration strategies to create new digital learning products that helped 15K customers.
Rebecca founded an award-winning blog, TheRebeccammendations® in 2009, and a marketing consulting company for small businesses, startups, and nonprofits at the age of 26, when she was named a Rising Star finalist in the Austin Business Journal’s Women of Influence awards.
She has shared her career development, personal branding, and marketing insights for 50+ companies, classrooms, and conferences, large and small, including: Aon, Salesforce, Year Up, General Assembly, Denver Scholarship Foundation, Jewish Colorado, Denver Jewish Chamber of Commerce, DePaul and Loyola Universities, Startup Institute Chicago, BlogHer, and YearUp.
Rebecca has navigated several career changes, interview cycles, and connected with thought leaders using a methodology she authored – 5 steps to building high quality career relationships: The Knock Method®, featured by FastCompany, Inc. Magazine, NPR, and PBS. To date, it has been shared in classrooms and workshops with 850+ professionals and students in partnership with 12+ organizations who are putting the steps into practice as they build their careers and build more human connection at work.
Rebecca lives in Denver with her adored husband and fluffy pup, Chef, and loves entertaining at home, hiking, yoga, traveling, and bringing people together to watch the magic of connection happen.

Prepare to Knock, Prepare to Connect
Dive into research to prepare to connect, identify your new career contact, and get ready to reach out.

*1:1 coaching sessions become available
You will have 2 weeks between this and the next session to give you time to reach out and connect with a new career contact.

Connect: Open the Door
Now that you've reached out with intention and strategy, let's prepare to have a meaningful interaction when you meet with your new career contact. Learn to maximize the time you have to connect to create mutual value and opportunity.

Keep on Knocking
Learn how to give to your professional network, practice generosity, and express gratitude. Get ideas from your cohort's fellow students on who to connect with and discover opportunities for your career change. Finalize your connections strategy and learn how to use the template going forward any time you connect or pursue a new career opportunity.

This course focuses on live workshops and hands-on projects. The more you put in, the more progress you'll make towards setting direction and connecting meaningfully to make the right career change.
