Course overview

Transform Your Generative AI Knowledge Gap into a Technical Edge

The landscape can feel overwhelming when you're ready to move beyond basic interfaces and gain a deeper understanding of GenAI. You know you want to build a solid understanding for working with these powerful models, but it's hard to know where to start and how to progress systematically.

This course provides the structured path you need.

You won't have to piece together scattered tutorials or get lost in technical documentation. I'll help you build a solid foundation for understanding and working with GenAI models.

You'll develop an intuitive understanding of how these models work and how to control them effectively.

You'll understand how to craft effective prompts, implement RAG systems (both with high-level frameworks and lower-level tools like Instructor and Outlines), and properly evaluate model outputs.

The course focuses on practical, hands-on application while giving you enough theoretical understanding to make informed decisions.

You'll learn the different patterns for using GenAI models, how to evaluate trade-offs, and how to choose the right tools for your needs.

By the end of this course, you will understand the underlying concepts that will serve you as technology advances.

Who is this course for

01

Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers seeking to level up their classical machine learning or deep learning skillset for GenAI

02

Data Analysts with Python experience looking to gain hands-on experience working with GenAI

03

Data Engineers who want to take their skillset to the next level by gaining familiarity working with GenAI models

04

Product managers with a technical side that want an applied introduction to GenAI so they understand how this technology works

What you’ll get out of this course

A mix of theory and application

You'll gain an intuition for how GenAI models work via lectures and hands-on coding. I promise to keep the math light instead focus on giving you an overview of the GenAI landscape and overcoming the challenges of working GenAI models.

Gain proficiency working with Large Language Models and Vision Language Models

You'll get hands-on experience working with GenAI models via API provides. You'll also learn to work with local models via HuggingFace and ModelScope. By the end of the course you'll be up to speed on the landscape of GenAI models.

Learn the tools of the trade

You'll gain hands-on experience working with tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and others. Learn how to access models via frameworks like AISuite and LiteLLM. You'll also learn about frameworks for observability. And, you'll learn about TensorRT-LLM and VLLM.

Understand and apply patterns of working with GenAI models

You'll gain hands-on experience with Prompt Engineering, RAG, multimodal RAG, Agents, Fine-tuning models. You'll come away with a solid understanding of when to use the appropriate pattern.

Develop an evaluation first mindset

You'll understand the importance of evaluating model outputs, everything from "vibe-checking" to automated evaluation. You'll learn about common benchmarks, what they measure, and how to create your own evaluation framework.
