Course syllabus

First Session: Game Mechanics

  • You'll understand what is game-based learning and how you can use it to supercharge your learning experiences
  • You'll learn how to craft your game's mechanics
  • You'll learn how to use AI as an assistant to brainstorm your game's learning objectives

Second Session: Story and Aesthetics

  • You'll learn what makes a great story
  • You'll craft your game's story using storybeats and AI
  • You'll design your game's world and assets using tools like Skybox Lab
  • You'll add interactivity to the gameplay


03

Third Session: Technology

  • You'll learn about the medium for your game (we'll experiment building an online escape game)
  • You'll explore different platforms to build games with no-code tools
  • You'll put together all your game's assets and launch a first version of your game

Fourth Session: Playtesting

  • You'll do a soft launch of your game and will receive feedback from other players
  • You'll learn the 3 ways to facilitate an effective debriefing and make learning long-lasting

You'll have access to templates, examples, and swipe files for you to download and use (that will save you hours of headache in the future)

Hands-on projects

Everything on this course is project-based. There's no use of having the theory if you don't put it into practice.

    There will be prep-work to make sure we make the most out of our time together during the live sessions.

    Live Sessions! 12:00pm - 13:30pm EST

    Live workshops where you'll learn, apply and practice in small breakouts.

  • Peer learning groups

    Sunday, June 18th. 1 hour

    We will have a peer learning session where students can set goals, quietly work together, ask questions, and hold each other accountable.

Hi👋 I'm Stefy Bolaños. I'm on a mission to help you turn content into playful and engaging learning experiences that sparks transformation.


I'm curious and excited with the possibility of building a learning game from scratch, relevant to the needs of each of my clients (and students!), and tailored to specific learning objectives. Ever since, I’ve built countless different games for teams all over the world. 


I've built game-based learning experiences for professors and deans, olympic athletes, students, and companies in the US, Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala, Canada and Germany.
