Course overview

A message for parents

You want to do the best for your child. You want them to flourish at college, but they don't know what they would like to do or if they are making the right choices. Teens are under terrible pressure. You might think you don't put it on them. Yet hey still feel it.

The pressure is palpable at home. They snap back at you, or they are endlessly locked up in their room. You are worried. They feel it. They want to succeed, not for you – for themselves, on their own terms. Yet they don't know how. If they are high achievers, they focus all their energy on school and not much is left for having a life or contributing to the community. They are exhausted.

They might loath failure and become depressed when they perceive they have failed. They might not have found their tribe yet, and feel very lonely.

You want to avoid your teens experimenting with the wrong self-soothing strategies: alcohol, drugs, self-harm, binge eating or worse.

It's hard for you: soon you might have to separate from your child if they get accepted at University far from home. You want to know they are confident, strong and that they are going to make good choices.

This course is very time sensitive. It is urgent if your teen is between 14 and 18yo. It is the first in a 3 part series. After Self-Awareness come Vision – where we investigate their ultimate mission and means goals – and then Mindsets and Strategies.

It will save you and your child potential stress, all sorts of negative emotions, years and thousands of dollars, if they end up changing course half way through Uni.

You will reach your goal of helping them thrive, making good choices, being proud of themselves. You win because they win.

You know how mentors have been – or would have been – beneficial in your life. This might be the best investment you make for your children.

A message for teens

Lack of insight and optimal mindsets is the #1 obstacle to reaching your goals.

Are you still told what to do by school and parents? As an adult you will need to think with your own head and make your own decisions.

Rather than just reacting to stimuli, I would like you to have a plan. You need to know where you are now, where would you like to go, and have strategy to get there. This approach is a skill for life.

The course helps you come off the treadmill of school, music, and sport and lets you take an eagle eye view of where you are now.

Clarity on personal values, strengths and achievements is crucial for a successful life. It fosters self-confidence and and helps you making choices in our uncertain environment.

Yet, the school curriculum does not help you on this. You have to find your own strategies. I am here to shepherd you through.

Know yourself to get ahead. Who is this course for?

01

You want to make the best choices for you – most teens go on autopilot and let others decide for them on a huge range of experiences

02

You want to be ahead of the pack and save years, money and negative emotions: most people start asking themselves Qs in their 20s if at all.

03

You crave a sense of agency in your life and don't want be an eternal Peter Pan who stops behaving like a teen in their 40s.

04

You want to get the best strategies to get where you want to go, cutting through all the noise

What you’ll get out of this course

Be clear on foundational mindsets

Discover the 4 frameworks for happiness and life satisfaction and start to use them.

Open the fan of your experiences and hunt down enriched environments.

Understand and apply creativity in problem solving.

Build your CV: identify your character strengths, skills and key experiences to determine what impact you want on the world

Use the best frameworks and word prompts to write your own CV as a placeholder for all your experience and attitudes.

The result we are looking for is your self awareness, but as a by product, we'll have your CV ready by the end of the course.

Build your focus pies: where is your focus right now? Is that intentional or reactive? Where would you like your focus to be instead?

Your life is what you focus on. Most people just react to life events and don't consciously decide what to pay attention to.

Let's give a score to the different areas of your life. Why did you give that score?

We'll use life pies because they are fun to do and share.

Plot your current life satisfaction graph. You don't need to share it if you don't want to.

The graph will give us an insight on your perception of how your life is going overall.

We will introduce the concepts of emotional awareness and emotional control.

What parents and mentees are saying. And what we do together.

My daughter started MC's mentoring last year. It's been crucial for her personal and academic growth. We could see her change almost in real time. Mariacristina managed to unlock Ginevra's phenomenal hidden potential. Having a mentor to help teens discover passions and goals makes a big difference in their future.

Thanks to Mariacristina's mentoring two of my daughters are acquiring new skills and awareness of their interests and potential. They are learning a lot about themselves, but also about the opportunities the world has to offer. Everyone should do this course. (Julia does job interview coaching – got the job – and applications to Master Degrees)

How do you actually get insight? It is no lightbulb moment.

How do you actually get insight? It is no lightbulb moment.

Will I get insight if I just coast?

Most adults never worked on self-awareness, so they are left reacting haphazardly to what life throws at them. Erratic behaviours, frustration all strife are the consequences of lack of self-awareness.

Your life, your choice.

Is this what you want?

What questions should you ask yourself? Should you ask others for how they see you? How exactly is it done? What are the shortcuts?

How many months or years will it take to find the answers if you don't even know what the questions are?

I will help you navigating the fastest way to insight, using the "Learn, Do, Learn, Do model". We will use the "I do, We do, You do" structure, so that you see what's expected of you, we do it together first, and then you do it by yourself.

In a very short 6 hours over a weekend we will have a clear picture of where you are at now: your character strengths, your broad stroke type, your unique experiences, your most common emotions and mindsets, your role models, your tribe, your interests.

Let's make it easy and fun! – Course syllabus

01

First Mindsets

Parents say they want their children to be happy, but did yours actually teach you how? 3 simple frameworks from science and personal development.

How to practice Insight and Outsight – Why you have to become like Sherlock Holmes.

How to open the fan of opportunity and see past school, sport and music, starting today.

02

Brainstorming Insight – 1

Build your CV as a strategy for you to reflect on your strengths, values, and experiences. The side benefit is that you will be able to use it for Uni, job and scholarship applications.

Include the right categories.

Brainstorm how you can easily populate each category.

03

Brainstorming Insight – 2

Use questionnaires, templates and dedicated wordlists to truly summarise who you are in your CV (you can always play with the format later).

Enjoy how easy and fun the process is with peers and the right guidance.

04

Bonus – Optional – CV Lab

Labs are structured working time with a specific goal. Today, you'll work on your CV. Then you'll get feedback from your peers. I will offer advice, but I want this primarily to be a work session with interaction among students to see each other's point of view and to add value to each other.

05

Brainstorming Insight – 3

Be amazed by how much you have already achieved in your life and how excellent you already are.

Have clarity on the fields you excel in and the fields you need to nurture more.

06

Where Is Your Focus Now? – Life Pies 1

Your life is what you focus on.

Write down the categories you focus on at the moment. Did you intentionally chose them of did they just happen to you? Should you make changes?

Switch to intentional life design.

You choose your categories in this module.

07

Where Is Your Focus Now? – Life Pies 2

I choose the categories in this module.

What score do you give to each and why?

Figure out what you are happy with, what you would like to work on or set aside for now

Decide what you can tackle independently and what you need help with.

08

Graduation and the Way Ahead – Presentation Of The Next Two Courses

The course is finished, but now that you know where you are at, you need to figure out 1) where you want to go and 2) strategies and mindsets to get there. If you enjoyed this course, you will love those too.

I can also help you with applications to colleges and universities and job interviews. One step at a time. I will be there for you.

09

Bonus – Optional – CV Teardown

In this optional workshop, I will critique 3 CVs and share insights on copywriting.

To be selected for a live critique, you must submit your CV project on the Share Your Work tab on your course.

This will be more about the CV itself and less about self-awareness.

You don't have to be present for all live sessions: recordings will be available

2hr on Saturday and Sunday, 2 weekends
  • Saturday May 6, 2023

    10-12am Rome time – 6-8pm Brisbane time

You need a notebook, a pen, and water. Most will have both their phone and their computer on hand. And bring an open mind.

Best of all, ask a friend to do it with you. It will be more fun: you will give each other ideas and feedback long after the end of the course.

  • Sunday May 7, 2023

    10-12am Rome time – 6-8pm Brisbane time

If you have a good relationship with your siblings, you can do it with them too. The more the merrier! It's my mission to help all teens who want to put in the effort to find their path.

  • Saturday May 13, 2023

    10-12am Rome time – 6-8pm Brisbane time
