Sam Dix

For over 10+ years I've helped entrepreneurs launch ventures across healthcare, finance, and consumer that have collectively gone on to raise over $200M in funding. I'm the Co-Head of the Startup Studio at Cornell Tech, an Adjunct Professor at NYU where I teach a masters course in Design Strategy, the former Director of Product at Redesign Health, and an ex-frog Design Strategist.

Course syllabus

Design Research Fundamentals

A deep-dive into various research techniques applied specifically towards shaping a product vision and strategy.

How to Synthesize Research

Don't just talk to stakeholders and customers - make sense of it all. We'll walkthrough the techniques to effectively synthesize your research so that you can build your product strategy off of your findings.

Ideation Techniques

Learn how to come up with ideas on command by walking through 5 distinct ideation techniques and applying them to your problem area.

Evaluating and Prioritizing Opportunities

You can't do everything - we'll go over a few techniques to prioritize strategic direction and make tradeoffs.

Crafting your Product Vision

Construct a product vision that encapsulates what distinguishes your product's value.

Mapping your Product Experience

Develop the product mapping technique that you can apply to help visualize critical customer moments.

Course schedule

4-5 hours per week
  • Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

    5:00pm - 6:00pm EST

    Classes will be a mix of lecture and workshop activities, introducing you to frameworks and templates along the way for you to use on your own.

  • Weekly projects

    4 hours per week

    Dedicated time for activity completion and qualitative research you will be conducting.

    2 Weeks

    The course will run over a 2 week period.
