Course overview
Leaders are born, but GREAT leaders cultivate and develop their skills.
Leadership is a critical aspect of any successful organization. Effective leadership can inspire a team to achieve its goals and reach its full potential. Even though I believe leaders are born, not made, leadership in itself is not an innate skill that everyone possesses. We all have strengths we are born with that we can all leverage with patience and desire, but leadership is also a set of learned behaviors that can be cultivated and developed over time. In this course, we will uncover and unpack the three key traits of effective leadership, known as the 3C's: Confidence, Clarity, and Culture.
Confidence:
Learn to conquer imposter syndrome, leverage emotional intelligence in a more meaningful way, and give and receive more effective feedback that can help make conflict resolution much easier.
Clarity:
Understand why inspiration and motivation is a key driver of success for teams. This manifests through mission and purpose, vision and values, and how to communicate effectively even for introverts out there like me.
Culture:
Culture is what codifies all aspects of great leadership and high performing teams. We'll cover multipliers and accidental diminishers, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and rounding out with how to be an effective coach and mentor.
You'll get simple tools with practical examples that you can put into motion on day 1 of this course. It is designed for you to learn by doing and reflecting. These concepts are not new, but like everything else, success or failure is in the execution. I'll get you there through group learning, coaching, and practice.

Rico Nasol

Rico Nasol is an accomplished business leader and entrepreneur who created a program to help executives, aspiring leaders, and entrepreneurs improve their leadership skills, vision, and team environment while creating more engagement and productivity.
With over 18 years of experience in various capacities across seven countries, Rico rose from humble beginnings to lead hundreds of people globally. He honed his leadership skills at Zappos and continued to refine them as an innovator at Netflix, where he built the Netflix Creative Studio from scratch.

Course syllabus

Confidence: Conquering Doubt
We will build more confidence by addressing our doubts around leadership. We will cover imposter syndrome, FEARs we have about leading, and how to lean into your strengths to develop a strong, authentic leadership style custom to you.

Confidence: Emotional Intelligence
We will learn how to balance EQ & IQ to improve trust and engagement. We will uncover strategies to use and improve self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills. Students will learn to identify triggers, respond differently, and apply these skills to feedback and high performance.

Confidence: Feedback & Conflict
Students will walk away with a simple framework for receiving and giving feedback. Feedback takes courage and we will provide strategies to make it more approachable and effective. We will also focus on how feedback can make conflict resolution easier.

Clarity: Mission Driven
Mission driven will help students increase engagement and productivity with a shared sense of direction. We will go through a simple framework to establish an organizational mission statement that provides clarity, focus, and inspiration.

Clarity: Ultimate Vision
Students will be able to achieve company goals faster with a clear and compelling vision. We walk through a simple framework to create an organizational vision that will help teams better understand the strategy, direction, and focus of the org. We will also establish values in this module to setup organizations for long-term success.

Clarity: Effective Communication
Students will learn strategies and get tools to help them create communication that engages, inspires, and aligns. We discuss strategies around creating thoughtful, inclusive, and compelling messages. We will also discuss channel effectiveness and when/how to cascade information.

Culture: Multipliers & Diminishers
Students will get a crash course on Multipliers & Diminishers based on the book by Liz Wiseman. Here we will understand how you can truly "do more with less" when facing multiple constraints. We will also shed light on some common mistakes that even the most well intentioned leaders make.

Culture: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB)
Students will have a safe space to discuss what it truly means to create a diverse and inclusive culture. DEIB is not a metric or OKR, rather it is a way of doing business and creating a sense of belonging. We will uncover some common pitfalls and how we can create a team culture where everyone can thrive and feel connected.

Culture: Coach & Mentor
The final module will teach students how to apply all of the learnings from this course through coaching and mentorship of their team and organizations. Culture is top down and for real change to happen, leaders must learn how to deploy all of these skills and tools to be successful.
Course schedule
3 hours per week
Tues & Thurs
2:00pm - 3:00pm PST
Courses will run weekdays with the exception of holidays and special events. Recordings will be available for those that miss a session.
Daily Projects
1 Hour Per Day
Most of the work is done during our sessions, but you may want to complete worksheets after sessions are completed.
