Course overview
This course will introduce attendees to the world of Tor. Frequently misunderstand, Tor is a vital tool for users around the globe seeking to evade internet surveillance and bypass censorship. Attendees will get an overview of the Tor Project, and gain a deeper understanding of the world of Tor.

Attendees should have a basic understanding of how the internet works, and be comfortable using their operating system of choice.

Prospective students should be aware of the need for a tool like Tor, and can have an array of questions of the utility and efficacy of Tor.

Appreciate the utility of Tor, and learn the reality behind the "Darknet" and the need for both privacy and anonymity.

George is a privacy-focused security technologist dedicated to implementing unorthodox solutions to difficult problems. George first began contributing to the Tor network in 2006 with a relay. He has been involved in an wide array of activities with the Tor Project from running relays and a critical directory authority, worked towards operating system diversity with BSD Unix, and did terms as both a liaison to the Tor Board and the Community Council.
Comfortable in technical and non-technical audiences, George firmly believes that any robust anonymity project requires engagement from a broad layers of users.
