Accelerate from Beginner to a Blockchain Engineering Master

Are you tired of sitting on the sidelines, watching others lead the charge in the world of innovation and technology?

Do you have web3 ideas that could revolutionize industries, but you're not sure how to bring them to life?

Sure, you'll become a leader in blockchain development and bring any web3 idea to life within 4 weeks using the systems in Pharos. But what makes Pharos completely different from anything you have seen before?

- Build a Million Dollar Crypto Startup: You along with your team will build your own crypto startup from the ground up, with guidance from experienced professionals. You'll learn how to market, build, and fundraise for your startup, and present it to angel investors at the end of the program. This is your chance to make your mark on the world.

- Connect and Learn from the Smartest Minds in Web3 : You'll have the chance to learn from some of the most successful minds in the industry. I'll be bringing in VCs, founders, and tech leads for lectures/Q&As. You'll get to ask them questions, get their feedback, and learn from their experiences.

- Access to a Network of High Value Blockchain Engineers: You've probably heard it a million times, but your network is your network. This is especially true in web3. You will be added into a niche, exclusive and lifelong community of expert blockchain engineers and leaders.

- Learn by doing: The only way to truly understand software education is by building something of value. You'll build several full-stack smart contract protocols and gain a deep understanding of Blockchain, NFTs, and DeFi primitives. You'll also learn the best security practices and the most efficient development frameworks/patterns.

- Get personalized coaching: Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, which is why I'll work with you one-on-one to help you improve. I'll teach you strategies to market yourself and land your dream job, including the exact questions companies ask in blockchain interviews.

- Smart Contract Development will Become Your Second Language: We'll teach you everything you need to know about building smart contracts, even if you're starting from scratch. You'll learn how to turn any web3 idea into a reality, and become an expert in blockchain development.

By the end of the Pharos Accelerator, you'll be part of the top 1% of Blockchain Engineers and have the skills, network and knowledge to lead the future of finance. You'll be equipped to land your dream job, or build your own complex protocols and make a difference in the world.

    Week 1

    Hey Everyone,

    Welcome to Pharos!

First off, congrats on taking this first step into becoming a leader in the web3 space.

I'm excited for you all to gain some deep value over the next month.

We will have 3 sessions this week.

Tuesday 5:15pm - more casual welcome and get to meet your team

    Wednesday 5:00pm - Guest lecture and Q&A

    Thursday 5:15pm - focused Q&A

The first step before we dive deep into Blockchain Engineering is understanding core concepts and that is what the first week will be focused on. Will be a little slower to the following few weeks, as I give you guys time to adjust.

    Coursework Week 1

If you come from a background of very limited Computer science knowledge, start off with this quick crash course on Object Oriented Programming. If you have additional time throughout Pharos, I highly recommend you go through CS50, a course taught by Harvard for free, which you can find here. Focus primarily on lessons 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8.

Start off here with a beginner video by me with some beginner Blockchain Concepts.

This book right here is one of the most comprehensive guides to understanding blockchain technology. It was with built with the help of some of the founders of Ethereum. Read deeply through these chapters and write notes. If you have extra time try doing the hands on work in these chapters, but it is not mandatory. Chapter 4 will get complicated so stop before Elliptic Curve Cryptography. Also, with Chapter 13, skip over the opcodes and assembly explanations.

    Read chapters 1, 2, 4, 13, 14

CryptoZombies is a tool we will use to jumpstart some simple solidity concepts in a fun way. You basically learn by playing around with programming zombies.

Lesson 1 Making the zombie factory: https://cryptozombies.io/en/solidity

Here is also a video of me writing a simple smart contract

Feel free to message any questions to the rest of the team in the discord. I will be there as well to answer anything. Look forward to meeting you all on Tuesday!

    Week 2

    Hey Everyone

Get excited for week 2, we're about to get much more hands on and deep dive into building decentralized applications. You will learn how to build a full stack decentralized application from scratch, the right way, and learn very important web3 building blocks in the process. After this week you should be able to make most simple blockchain ideas you have come to life.

    Your First Blockchain Dapp

    Intro and Technical Architecture Video

Backend Development Video - I recommend watching it at around 1.5x speed

Frontend Development Video - I recommend watching it at around 1.5x speed

    Homework

After coding along with the video's I've made for the Dapp. You will be adding onto it 2 more tabs. One for minting your own NFT, and the second for viewing all minted NFTs. You will then publish this code to github.

Crypto Zombies: Lesson 2, and 6. You will do the second lesson in Crypto Zombies to learn more advanced solidity concepts. Also, I want you to just read through lesson 6, you don't have to do the code, but read through the concepts they discuss because it will give you a good understanding of all the technical building blocks we will be using in the full stack dapp we're building this week

Deep Dive into DeFi Concepts: DeFi is a core aspect of web3 you have to understand, and these are the best, most in-depth videos out there. Finish at least till the Apprentice level and if you have time do the Mastery level as well.

    Final Week

    Welcome to the Final Week!

This week will be mainly focused on more complex concepts in blockchain dev, and give you guys time to continue working on your startup. Super excited to see what you all build on Thursday.

I am changing the system to more of a hack-a-ton style, where I will be bringing in angel investors (their backgrounds include: blockchain devs & successful founders) on Thursday's demo day to look at each team's projects and ideas and give directed feedback. The wining team will get $300 to pay for basic startup costs to get them kickstarted, and an opportunity to collaborate with the angel investors if they are impressed.

If you didn't build out a project, definitely still join the Demo Day on Thursday to learn from the guest's feedback and connect with them.

Also, feel free to setup a 1-1 call with me so you can ask me any questions, and see where I can be of any additional help :)

    Homework

Build a Flash Loan Arbitrage Bot Overview, Code Walkthrough, and Github 💰

This will give you a very deep understanding of DeFi building blocks and advanced solidity/blockchain dev concepts. Code along with me and then try deploying this on Goerli Testnet or an EVM compatible chain.

    Highly recommend resources

Capture the Ether: After completing this you will be a solidity pro. You're basically learning how to hack smart contracts through a game.

Top 50 Solidity Interview Questions: Here is a compiled list of the top 50 solidity interview questions. If you master these, you will pass almost every technical blockchain engineer interview.

Course schedule

8-10 hours per week

  • Tuesday and Thursday

    5:15pm - 6:15pm

    Q&A

Tuesday is optional and casual - ask me anything you are curious about

Thursday is strictly relevant to the weeks coursework and homework

  • April 28th

    Demo Day

You and your team will present your project on the final day of the course. There will be some angel investors and tech leads in the audience
