The secret any successful writer will tell you: That fear you're feeling? It never goes away.

Not really.

BUT.

It is possible to silence that doubting voice in your head long enough to get your words on the page.

I've found that most people need three things to cultivate the Creative Courage necessary to venture into the Writing Life.

1. COMMUNITY - Your friends and family love you, but yeah they're probably not going to read your rough drafts. But it is possible to connect with other writers. And a magical thing happens when you see the people surrounding you taking the chances you're too afraid to leap at – you begin to get a bit more bold, you begin to feel like what you want is possible because you SEE IT happening to everyday people just like you. Signup now to meet your cohort! And the best part is, these writers will likely remain your life long after this course ends.

2. CRAFT - Knowing the basics about writing gives you a starting point that makes the blank page feel less terrifying. You know what they say, you have to know the rules before you can break the rules! And lucky for you I've read the books – SO MANY BOOKS — and taken the courses — SO MANY COURSES — and distilled them down into actionable steps for the amateur writer.

3. CONFIDENCE: I believe in you, so you can believe in yourself. Most people are much better writers than they realize. You just need someone you respect to say so. Hi, nice to meet you. This Maven course culminates in a 1:1 session where I can give you direct feedback on your writing, talk you through your writing hangups or answer any lingering questions you may have.

How do I know? I spent nearly a decade in Corporate America before walking away from my career to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing. I then moved back home to Kentucky — Yup, Kentucky — to launch my writing career. I know what it takes to live off your words and make it happen even if you don't live in a city like New York or LA and writer friends can be hard to come by. I built a career and sold a book at auction and along the way I've taught dozens of writing workshops in the community and at colleges. A lot of times workshop leaders can spend a lot of time talking about the intangible without giving you actual info that you can implement immediately.

Writing For Fakers is a blueprint for plotting your Writer's Life and getting out of your own way so you can go after your dreams.

Minda created an amazing space that brought me important perspectives and a slew of new writers to follow, all in the service of craft and communicating as human beings. I came away with real steps I can take to apply what we discussed to my own writing.

Minda was an incredible instructor. She made you feel like she was your friend. I learned a lot.

Minda brought a fun and meaningful energy to the class. We discussed a lot of heavy but important topics that helped me understand how I can write a compelling essay. I would have stayed and done four more!
