Who is this course for

01

You're at a career turning point, but struggle to connect your previous work experiences to what you want to do next

02

You're seeking a new job or promotion but need help identifying and shaping stories that illustrate your skills and talents.

03

You want to reflect on your winding career journey but have a hard time motivating yourself to do it on your own.

By the end of our journey together, you'll be able to:

Identify career experiences that illustrate your talents, passions, and values

Explore key moments from your career using thought-provoking prompts and fun storytelling frameworks. Develop a list of career moments that you can turn into engaging and empowering stories.

Shape your stories to grab attention and connect deeper

Apply storytelling frameworks to make your stories clear, compelling, and concise. Develop the emotional undercurrent of your stories to unlock important life lessons.

Tailor your stories to inspire your audiences to take action

Every story has an audience, even if that audience is you. By understanding your audience on a human level, you can tweak your story to hook them and make a clear ask that will lead to action.

Confidently share at least one career story with your fellow students

We spend so much of our life at work, but we have very few spaces to share our work stories. We'll create a safe and supportive environment to share your stories, get feedback, practice active listening, and learn how to ask better follow-up questions.

Proactively create the career story you want to tell next

You are the author of your own story, so you get to decide where it goes next. Use storytelling prompts and techniques to imagine the career you want to build and map the journey you’ll take to get there.

More praise for Shape Your Career With Storytelling

Extremely inspiring, well-organized, perfectly curated class to connect people to each other, themselves, and their stories within. So well done - I highly recommend this class to anyone!
Allison Lilly

I definitely feel more empowered. This class allowed me to look back on the things I've accomplished, but also the moments that were challenging, and see them as lessons and not as failures. I'd recommend this class if you're looking to build your storytelling abilities, build confidence in yourself and your career, and do it in a safe environment.
Katherine Blakeley Kerr

Katherine Blakeley Kerr

I highly recommend Liz's personal storytelling class to anyone looking to make a deeper impact with any stories they want to share, whether professionally or personally. One of my favorite parts was the breakout sessions when my partners and I got to try out new ways of communicating and, most important for me, really listening to the other person
Barton Quigley

Stories connect us to one another. I was a bit anxious because I didn't feel I had any interesting stories to tell, but the more I understood the ingredients of a story and in listening to others tell theirs', I gained fresh new lenses. From there, I began seeing past events and even future potential stories with an enlivened curiosity.

Storytelling Coach & Consultant

You have a story that can change the world.

Don't believe me? With over 15+ years producing human-centered content for companies (Airbnb), campaigns (Obama 2012), causes (Idealist.org), and cable (Bravo, NatGeo, Discovery), I've helped hundreds of regular people (and some celebrities) identify their most powerful stories and use them to motivate others to take action.

Then in May 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, I got laid off. It was devastating. I turned to storytelling to help me cope.

I said, "this is a story about the time I lost my job, but it's going to be the story about how I found myself." I reflected on what I found most meaningful across all my various jobs and projects, and used that to shape what I wanted to do next. Turns out storytelling plays a big part in that, too.

Now, I lead engaging workshops and tailor bespoke consulting based in the art and science of storytelling. I've developed storytelling tools and frameworks that make it easy for you to get creative and connect your stories to your goals.

I built this course to bring you on a journey of self-reflection and personal growth using storytelling as our guide. Because you have a story that can change your world. It's just waiting for you to find it.

Six Weeks To Career Confidence

3-4 hours per week

  • 6 Tuesdays

    4:00pm - 6:00 PM/PT

Our two-hour sessions will be a mix of group activities & games, small group breakouts and story practice, and time for individual reflection and journaling.

  • Optional Group Journaling Time

    5 Thursdays | 1 hour

We're all really busy. Finding time to do the guided journaling prompts can be hard. So let's do them together! We'll kick off with a brief intro, have quiet working time, and come back for a nice reflection on the exercise.

Note: We'll poll the class to pick a recurring time.

  • Individual Reflection & Video Lessons

    1 hour per week

This course comes with a number of guided journaling prompts to help you go deeper. There will also be a number of video lessons that build on concepts we cover in class.

  • 3 + 6 Month Cohort Check Ins

    TBD

We will regroup as a cohort 3 months and 6 months after our course to check in and continue to practice our skills. It's a great way to stay in touch with the folks in the course, and get celebrated for all your wins.

  • [BONUS] Private Story Coaching or Tarot Reading

⭐️ Everyone who enrolls will get a free 60-minute private story coaching or tarot reading session ($250 value) ⭐️

Turn the page into your next career chapter

Turn the page into your next career chapter

Know yourself better

Using the guided journal prompts and activities, you will become really proud of how far you've come, and get clear on where you want to go next.

We're in this together

You never know who needs to hear your story. We'll have lots of group breakouts and chances to share your story with the class. This fosters a deep sense of connection with your fellow classmates. You might even make a new friend or networking buddy!

Not your typical career-focused class

This class will NOT teach you how to write the best resume, optimize your Linkedin, or ace every interview. Think of it as the first step in that direction. This class WILL help you understand your bigger-picture career story, and how to tailor your stories for different audiences and scenarios.
