Deborah Aker

Deborah Aker

Deborah has edited around 400 proposals—most to USAID—since 2008. She developed and co-facilitates sessions on persuasive writing for Keylime. She draws on her experience, good and bad examples from proposals, and the insights of communication professionals to help participants unlearn the complex and often over-the-top writing that earned high marks in school. We’ll brainstorm to improve sample text, critique proposal graphics, and share pain points as we seek ways to keep our writing compelling and readable. sample text, critiques of proposal graphics, and discussions of pain points as participants seek ways to keep their writing compelling and readable.

How to Make a CV Make Sense

If you’ve written a CV for a USAID proposal, you know that sometimes the candidate’s original CV can be kind of a mess. It’s important to have a framework to organize the information so the CV that goes into the proposal is not only readable but easily digestible, showcasing why the candidate is the best fit for the job. Keylime's guide to formatting CVs can help you sift and sort through information and present it in a logical, uniform way.
