To call Sara an incredible mentor would not properly encapsulate the care and attention she places on the growth and well-being of those who work for her. I know this firsthand, as I’ve been lucky enough to work with Sara twice in my career (and I’d go for a third if I could!).

Course syllabus

01

The BS of bias and the benefit of knowing about it.

Bias sucks. Wonderful DEIB experts are working tirelessly to fix the problems, but they won't go away overnight. Learn about the science behind why bias occurs, the biases that most significantly impact the tech sector, and how you can best navigate them without destroying your mental health.

02

31 Flavors: Optionality in the Tech Sector

I have to be an engineer and work at a startup to be in tech, right? It's a common misconception that you have to be highly technical to succeed in the tech sector. We'll break down public and private options, the non-technical types of roles at tech companies, and explain the career-life balance that comes with the different environments.

03

Kicking Imposter Syndrome to the curb once and for all.

Why do overly confident people with less experience statistically beat out experts for leadership roles? Explore the science behind Imposter Syndrome: what's causing it, how to develop strategies to overcome it, and finally see yourself as the expert you are and not the fraud you might perceive yourself to be.

04

Brand Workshop 101: The Power of Storytelling & Effective Communication

Storytelling is built into our human evolution and transcends across almost every aspect of our lives. Learn how to tell an effective story about who you are, who you were, and who you want to be next.

05

Building a powerful network when you're not born into one.

Just like bias sucks, it also sucks that some people are born on third base, while others start from behind home plate. A truly powerful network isn't just about knowing people will fancy titles. It is made up of friends, allies, and mentors, all cheering for you to succeed. Learn how to find these people and open doors to new opportunities.

06

Brand Workshop 201: You'd be a fool not to hire me!

Build an action plan for realistic and measurable career success. Market yourself authentically and confidently. Hedge your bets and strengthen your grit when you're presented with setbacks. Walk away with a personalized toolkit for tech career success & a new community of friends, allies, and mentors to help get your there.
