Cohort-based Course

An immersive course in telling the world who you really are — and attracting the people and opportunities you really want.

Course overview

You’re not generic. But is your bio?

When it comes to our professional bios, I believe we all missed the original assignment — to tell our story in ways that invite curiosity, connection, and conversation.

Instead, we've all been looking over someone else's shoulder. Copying what they've done. Replacing their name and accomplishments with our own. Hoping to come across polished and professional, all while playing a high-stakes game of Mad Libs with our careers.

We're so much more than a random collection of nouns and verbs and adjectives. We're multifaceted humans with big dreams. And if we want to realize those dreams, we have to stop playing formulaic games.

This is not a course in making tweaks and edits to “OK“ bios. I won't be sharing fill-in-the-blank templates. And I have no interest in being anyone's Fairy Grammarly. 🧚‍♀️ This is a master class in learning to see and describe your own awesomeness — like you never have before.

This is a course for high-achieving, difficult-to-define, multi-hyphenate humans who are ready to pivot, level up, or both.

“I thought you were going to nip-and-tuck LinkedIn profiles for people. But your 3-level-noun exercise is closer to a super-strategy defining the Simon Sinek ‘Why?’ for a human being.” –Mark Palmer

(And that's just one exercise, people. 😉)

What other people are saying

I started with a generic and rigid writing style that Anita graciously helped me to untangle. I left with a bio that was unique, warm, and most importantly, felt like me. My time with Anita was transformational, and by the end of the course, I had gained the confidence I needed to leave my corporate job and start my own design agency.
Ellen Garrett

Community-First Landscape Architect
When I signed up, my author bio was very bare bones and formulaic. As I started publishing, I was not satisfied with it. Anita's guidance helped me achieve a result that reflects who I am as a creative in a way that aligns with my values, which is hugely important. I got what I needed much faster than I would have on my own.

Build-a-Bio took me on a journey that was equal parts creative writing, personal soul searching, and meticulous thinking. The result was a bio that was clearer, truer, and more "me" than I could have hoped for. The course made me think about myself and my work in new ways and gave fresh life to the way I approach my professional identity.

Anita has taken something static and infused it with magic and delight. As a multifarious creative, articulating how and what I do has always felt either too restricted or too abstract. Build-a-Bio empowered me to speak about myself in a way that feels true, aligned, and honoring of the value I bring to my clients, projects, and relationships.

Anita’s welcoming and encouraging attitude fostered great rapport, and her advice on how to write a bio is both potent and sensitive. I am so grateful that I was able to bond with everyone in the course and see my cohort’s creativity. I also love my new bio! I give Anita a five-star rating, but if I could, I’d give her a galaxy as a thank you.

There's really no better person than Anita to guide you through this delicate and creative process. She taught me to find the right words to align myself with what I want to create and who I want to talk to. For anyone considering this program: jump in, dig in, do the work, and be prepared to be delighted with all your discoveries.
