Meet your instructor
Brittany Laughlin
Hi! I'm the Executive Director of the Stacks Foundation, creating utility on Bitcoin through education, grants, and community governance. I am also a Professor at Cornell Law School, teaching DeFi and Regulation.
My not-so-secret mission is to bring more talented operators into Web3. I want to help talented people overcome the "unknowns" and get involved in the fastest growing space on the internet. I'm excited to offer a condensed version of my Cornell Law School class to more people through Maven.
Whether you're considering a jump into Web3 or a crypto OG who wants a better handle on the ecosystem and regulatory landscape, it'd be great to have you!
My own crypto journey started in 2014 as a VC at USV. We invested in this little bitcoin wallet project called Coinbase and I took my first step down the rabbit hole. After several VC investments, I was hooked and wanted to go full time into building the next internet.
I joined Stacks in 2019 and helped complete the first SEC-qualified token offering in the US. Talk about a crash course on crypto legal and regulation! I spun out the Stacks Foundation a few years later and now I have a front row seat building Web3.
After 8 years in crypto, my two biggest take aways are:
- Keep learning. The industry changes daily.
- Community is critical. Nothing happens in a silo, so building a great network of peer operators helps the whole industry move forward faster.
