Abstract

Course overview

Master the Product Sense and Analytical Thinking Interview Loop

My Qualifications

While preparing for the Meta PM interviews as a candidate, I found the online resources too complicated and verbose. Some guides are 100 pages long! And the YouTube video mocks don't break down the strategy in an actionable way that I could apply to interviews. I ended up creating my own playbook to land the role.

As a Product Manager at Meta, I conducted 40+ interviews with candidates and even trained new interviewers on the Product Sense and Analytical Thinking interviews (back then still "Execution"). Since leaving Meta, I've coached dozens of candidates.

I later used the same exact playbook to land a Lead PM role at Attentive, which had Product Sense and Execution interviews looking for similar signals.

About the course

In this course, I’ll teach you how to run Product Sense and Analytical Thinking interviews in a way that gives the interviewer the signals they need within the allotted 45 minutes. Nothing more, nothing less.

I've done this by packaging the most useful advice I repeat to my coaching clients into a simple and actionable playbook that anyone can follow. I know it's the most useful because that's what people have thanked me for the most.

When thinking about the ROI on this course, it's probably best to look at the compensation packages at Meta, which are at the top of the market across all levels of PM seniority (data from levels.fyi):

L5 = $350k

L6 = $585k

L7 = $940k

Director = $1.4M

Senior Director = $2.2M

What you'll get from the course

By the time you complete the course, you will be equipped with clear frameworks for Product Sense and Analytical Thinking interviews as well as an understanding of the feel and rhythm of excellent interviews through practice.

Course structure

The course will span four weeks, each week entailing one live session that lasts 2 hours. There will also be ~2 hours of homework after lesson 1 and another ~2 hours after lesson 3. Total time commitment for the course is 12 hours.

If there's interest, I will also hold office hours at a time that works well for west coast folks for 30 minutes the day after each session.

See the syllabus further down the page for more detail on what we'll cover in each session 👇

What you’ll get out of this course

A game plan for your interviews

I'll walk you through the industry-standard evaluation criteria interviewers use for Product Sense & Analytical Thinking interviews. I'll suggest time allocation along with actionable tips and a template to follow in each interview.

Live group mocks of each interview

After I've shared my tips, frameworks, and templates we will have dedicated sessions for putting these into play by walking through a live demo response to interview questions.

Async responses from me

I've found that opening the floor to questions is the best way to help people adjust their mental models for the interviews and reach internal clarity. I'll regularly make time for questions at the end of each session and async via email (I'll respond within 24 hours).

Interview practice

There will be two homework assignments through the course in which you'll get paired with another student to complete a mock interview and submit your response. This is excellent practice in a supportive environment.

Ben Erez

Former Product Manager at Meta

I've been a founder, joined three different startups as their first PM, and held senior PM roles at Meta and Attentive. After leading product & design at Continuum, a marketplace for fractional executives, I now partner with early stage teams as an advisor and interim first PM, helping founders define the PM role prior to making a full-time hire.

My experience spans many different models: B2B SaaS (Abstract), martech (Attentive), ads (Facebook), consumer (Life360, Breathe, Canvas), automotive fintech (Breeze -> Canvas), marketplace (Continuum).

I've been through the entire spectrum of funding cycles: angel, Series A (Breeze, Continuum), Series B (Life360, Abstract), Series C (Life360, Abstract), Series E (Attentive), and post-IPO (Facebook).
